Oil boom
Nov 02, 2018

Oil fence is a kind of equipment that USES the floating body with skirt under water to enclose oil and dirt on the surface to prevent it from spreading.Commonly used portable oil containment boom blocks the spread of oil pollution in oil spills at sea and port.It is composed of inflatable floating body, hemline, tension belt, weight chain and anchor pieces. It is fixed around oil surface that needs to be enclosed with anchor anchorage. According to the use area, it can be divided into various types such as ocean type, offshore type, port type and so on.

Basic structure:

It can float on the water surface stably, which is used to prevent oil spill diffusion, reduce oil spill area, transfer oil spill and floater, and protect the environment of water area. There are many types of oil fences and they come in different forms. However, the basic structure is composed of floating body, skirt body, tension belt, counterweight and joint.

Floating body: the part that provides buoyancy for the containment boom. Its role is to use air or buoyancy materials to provide buoyancy to the oil containment boom, enabling the boom to float on the water. The floating body can be placed inside the top layer of the oil column or outside the top layer.

Skirt body: refers to the continuous part of the oil column below the floating body. Its role is to prevent or reduce the oil from escaping from the bottom of the containment boom.

Tension band: a long belt member (chain, band) capable of withstanding the horizontal tension on the boom.It is mainly used to withstand the wind, waves, tide and pull.

Counterweight: the pressure carrier that makes the oil column droop and improves the performance of the oil column, it can make the oil column in the water in an ideal state.Generally steel, lead materials, or use water as a ballast.

Joint: a device permanently attached to an oil containment boom and used to connect each boom or other ancillary facilities.
